Portsmouth’s distinct Spinnaker Tower will once again play host to a stair race, with this year’s event to be held on Sunday 11th October. The building features 530 stairs, which rise in a unique triangular formation, and lead out to an observation deck that provides wonderful views on a clear day.

As host for the British leg of the WFGT Towerrunning Challenge in 2014, the event attracted some media attention, and was featured as part of a segment on BBC’s The One Show. Olympic 400m relay medallist Iwan Thomas took part in the event, finishing fourth. Top UK stair climber Mark Sims won the race in a time of 2:32, and earned himself a place at the Tower Running World Cup final as a result.

This year’s race is likely to be a popular event and those wanting to register early can do so here.
