Rafal Hazan won the 14-floor sprint race at the Orion Business Tower in Lodz, Poland on Sunday.

Hazan narrowly edged out sprint rival Adrian Bednarski, racing up 320 steps in 56 seconds, to finish one second ahead of his fellow Pole.

Tomasz Jozefiak took third in 58 seconds, with Pawel Ruszala (1:00) and Mateusz Marunowski (1:01) rounding out the top five men.

It’s Hazan’s second sprint win this year after he blitzed to victory at the LOROS Tower Run in Leicester, UK back in March.

Hazan and Bednarski have established themselves as sprint specialists on the European tower running scene. In recent years they’ve swapped wins at the nine-floor Bieg Zdobycia PAST-y (The Conquest Run at the PAST building) in Warsaw. Bednarski has also secured multiple win at short course events in Germany, including three wins at the 180-step Senftenberger See Turmlauf.

Sunday’s close battle between the pair sets the scene nicely for the remaining two races that complete the three-race Globitel Tower Run series in Lodz.

In September runners will compete over a 264-step course, and then up 421 steps in November.

Rafal Hazan ran the 351 steps of St George’s Tower in 1:31.7 to win the LOROS Tower Run.

The experienced Polish tower runner became only the sixth athlete in the event’s seven year history to complete the course in under 1:32.

Hazan was followed by David Harris (GBR) whose time of 1:44.2 was almost exactly the same as the one that earned him second spot on the podium in 2021 too.

Gareth Dix (GBR) was third in 1:50.1, making an impressive 12-second improvement on his finishing time from last year’s event.

In the women’s division, the absence of some of the top UK tower runners left the race wide open. In what was a slower contest than has been seen in previous editions, Molly Adams was fastest to reach the top in 2:25.3. Jo Remington was next in 2:32.5, with Kimberly Etherington-Bates third in 2:33.2.
